Larry and Kathy came to the Lord while working in rock 'n roll clubs in Colorado in 1980. As they studied His word and grew in His Grace, the appeal of the rock scene became less desirable until finally they left their band in 1982. They worked various jobs for 9 months. In early 1983 they returned to music in the less offensive hotel night clubs as a duo, being very selective of the popular top 40 music they sang. Included were many of their own songs, written reflecting their new found hope, joy and love in Jesus Christ. As they continued to grow in Jesus, even the quiet atmosphere of hotel clubs became uncomfortable and the vision of a Music Ministry appeared. They prayed and waited on the Lord for over a year until by His hand some jobs fell through and churches opened up and the Stewarts Ministry began. The Stewarts now travel, visiting churches, prisons, rescue missions and other fellowships. Their music offers a wide variety of contemporary Christian music which they write. They tailor each appearance to fit the situation, from ballads on acoustic guitar or piano to a fuller sound with synthesizer, computerized drums, electric guitar, bass and occasionally a background track to accompany Larry on sax or flute. The Stewarts are especially noted for their vocal blend and harmonies developed over their years together. For two years, Larry and Kathy came off the road to help a pastor friend plant a church in Leipers Fork, TN. This proved to be a valuable time of experience and growth spiritually and musically. As of 1996 the Stewarts have been invited to lead worship seminars in various churches. Larry and Kathy give God the glory for their gift of music and travel and minister with joy wherever the Lord leads them. The Stewarts never charge for their appearances, they work on a free-will basis. They come to serve, from special music, to the whole service, to give your worship team a break or to provide a concert. |
